Social Studies: “The Beginning of Practice”
“Social Project” as a Start to Clinical Practice
The UPU offers young professionals the opportunity to begin their clinical practice as psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, or psychological counselors. To this end, the UPU counseling center allocates one free day—Sunday—during which you can see potential analysands and clients from Kyiv. Appointments are also possible on other days, but on a paid basis, either at your location or, if the call is not from Kyiv, online. Those who have applied to participate in the “Social Project” are grouped together, and the contact information of individuals seeking consultation is passed on to them in turn.
The “Social Project” offers the opportunity to receive case supervision at a special rate. The supervisor for the “Social Project” is Olena Volodymyrivna Savchenko.
Requirements for participation in the “Social Project”:
Psychoanalytic education or currently enrolled in a psychoanalytic program.
A minimum of 100 hours of didactic analysis with a certified (ECPT, IPA, UAP) training psychoanalyst.
Mandatory supervision of clinical cases.
Obtain membership in the UPU (Ukrainian Psychoanalytic Union).
It is recommended to complete the “From Theory to Practice” course, which will cover in detail and through practical exercises the initial phone call with a potential analysand (complex questions, call duration), the first sessions with the analysand (basic rules and session structure), “analysand suitability,” and types of psychotherapy for different client categories, as well as many other useful practical points.
