BYLAWS OF THE ETHICS COMMITTEE
OF THE UKRAINIAN PSYCHOANALYTICAL UNION

​​​​The Ethics Committee is a body of the Organization that monitors compliance with ethical standards in the professional activities of UPS members and in their interactions with one another.5

In carrying out its activities, the Ethics Committee is guided by the current legislation of Ukraine, the UPS Code of Ethics, the UPS Bylaws, and other founding documents of the UPS.

1. The Chair of the Ethics Committee is elected by the Organization’s Conference.

2. The composition of the Ethics Committee is determined by the Chair of the Ethics Committee and approved by the President for a term of 4 years.

3. The Committee consists of members of the UPS—specialists in psychoanalysis who have met certain training standards in accordance with the Regulations on Membership in the Public Organization “Ukrainian Psychoanalytic Union” and have at least 5 years of practical experience.

4. Meetings of the Ethics Committee are convened at the request of the Chair, but no less frequently than once a year.

5. A meeting of the Ethics Committee is valid if more than half of its members are present.

6. Decisions of the Ethics Committee are adopted by a simple majority of its members’ votes. In the event of a tie, the Chairperson has the casting vote. In the event of complex or contentious situations, the Chairperson shall refer the matter to the Conference for resolution.

7. Decisions of the Ethics Committee on matters within its jurisdiction are binding on all governing bodies and members of the Organization.

8. The Chair of the Ethics Committee reports on the Committee’s activities to the Conference of the Organization’s members.

9. The Ethics Committee, in accordance with its powers, shall:

- Approving the UPS Code of Ethics and revising the provisions and requirements of the UPS Code of Ethics;

- Reviewing complaints regarding members’ compliance with the Code of Ethics;

- Providing official written responses to agencies and individuals who have submitted written inquiries to the Committee. 

10. The Commission maintains records of its activities in the form of written minutes, which are stored in an electronic archive. The Chair of the Committee is responsible for the archive.
